What About Meals?
The University provides optional meal plans through our on-campus Café, which offers our technology degree students a wide range of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are also several restaurants within walking distance of the campus that offer student discounts. WILL THE COLLEGE ADVISE ME IF MY STUDENT IS HAVING DIFFICULTY?
College is a journey and a time of discovery in many respects. As technology students begin to live life independently as adults, they learn for themselves how to manage their time, prioritize academics, assume personal responsibility and balance it all. Helping influence their independent accountability to achievement is just one of the reasons why UAT does not routinely report academic, social, medical or personal status to parents unless a student-signed authorization waiver is on file. This signed waiver provides full access to student information, but please note that federal privacy regulations require that student authorization be granted prior to the dissemination of any student information. Without a student-signed waiver, we contact families only when, in our best judgment, the student's well-being warrants a family consultation. In such cases, we usually ask the student to make the first contact with parents.
WHAT SHOULD MY STUDENT DO IF HE OR SHE IS HAVING ACADEMIC PROBLEMS?
In the case of academic problems, the student should work closely with his or her professors as well as with his or her Student Affairs Advisor.

DO WE QUALIFY FOR FINANCIAL AID?
UAT understands how important financial aid assistance is to the majority of technology students. In order to help you estimate the cost of attending an advancing technology university, we recommend talking with one of our Financial Aid representatives and using Financial Aid Calculators (www.finaid.org/calculators), an online tool that will help you and your family determine costs of attending college, how much you will need to save to attend, and how much financial aid you may need.
As soon as you file your taxes in your son or daughter's Senior year, you should fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Applications become available on the web () as early as January 1st of each year for funding periods of attendance between the following July 1 and June 30.

WHAT IS TEMPE LIKE?
Tempe, Arizona is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area or, as it is better known locally, the Valley of the Sun. Few states feature such spectacular weather and varied terrain as Arizona. Outdoor recreation is a year-round reality here. You can enjoy a walk near the campus in a T-shirt on a 70° February morning and then drive a little over two hours north to go skiing in the afternoon.

The mixture of this region's Hispanic, Native American and Southwestern cultures and influences have created a vibrant, multicultural community like no other. And your student will be living where millions of other people come to vacation each year—you'll love visiting them here!
IS MY STUDENT GOING TO GET A JOB UPON GRADUATION?
UAT's Career Services offers many avenues of assistance to help your technology student get in the industry, once graduated. We offer individual résumé, cover letter and interview counseling, instruction on in-depth company and industry research, recurring seminars for building the résumé and cover letter, recurring seminars for interviewing skills, participation in industry conferences and events and assistance with job and internship leads. In addition, UAT also offers continual instruction about various job searching resources (i.e., job boards, professional organization membership and recruiters, as well as continual, revolving contact with companies and industries to find available internships) and permanent positions within the state and beyond.
CAN MY CHILD TAKE THE SUMMER OFF SINCE UAT OFFERS A YEAR-ROUND PROGRAM?
UAT's Synchronic Learning model provides students with some valuable and well-placed time off between semesters. This respected academic model (charleschauvel.com/synchroniclearning) gives students an intense focus that's reliant on continuous learning from semester to semester. Therefore, taking a semester off is not recommended. Attending year-round also allows technology college students to complete their degree in less time at a lower overall family cost. Many families find this immersion program provides them with a higher quality education for the same overall costs of supporting a student for an additional year or two at a state college, particularly when adding in the full-time employment income that's delayed until graduation.
